Super Yaki x Thelma (Magnolia Pictures)
I helped design a shirt for the Super Yaki x Thelma merch line to promote Magnolia Pictures’ film “Thelma.” It was inspired by the Shaft poster to honor action hero Richard Roundtree. Super Yaki adapted the design to a more print-friendly version and you can buy it here:
Lincoln Center Internship Program Rebrand
The project is my imagining of what a rebrand for the Lincoln Center Internship program would look like. My supervisors needed help with reviving the website and logo and I had an idea to show diversity and made some graphics to go along with it.
Firelight Media, Communications and Graphic Design Internship
Some of the graphics I made for Firelight Media’s social media and other communication needs, such as the PBS Annual Meeting, PBS Homegrown series, and more.
Cinewax Ambassador Program Logo
Logo for Cinewax Ambassador Program. Cinewax strives to facilitate access to films from the African diaspora, Cinewax created the distribution program Cinewax Ambassadors, dedicated to institutions and associations in West / South Africa, Europe, and North America.
Personal Projects
I decided to redesign the poster completely and make it somewhat opposite from the original. The original had bright neon colors over black while this one has more neutral colors, and it is more muted with a grain texture. The only thing I kept from the original design is the Blend effect.
I used a past assignment as an inspiration for the black background and colorful interior. I used a blend and spine effect. I kept the movement limited to the logo lettering than the information to make it easier to read but maintain visual interest. I believe the "i" of iArt is difficult to read.
This was a rejected idea for the iArt poster redesign. It was rejected because I don't believe it properly represents the exhibition, though it is very nice. It was also good practice for Illustrator.
The final assignment for my Digital Design and Usability course was to design a logo for a food market. I chose the Union Square Green Market and used elements from the park, like the presence of chess players.
For my Graphics Design class, we were to create an album cover based on the last three words of a quote. I got /a star gone wrong/. I chose to give a bleak ending to a child wishing upon a star.
For my Digital Design and Usability course, the theme was humanity and nature. And to make it into a functional poster.
For my Digital Design and Usability course, the theme was humanity and nature. This was done in Photoshop with masking and layering. Despite the aesthetic, I wanted to attempt this assignment again because I felt like it lacked the humanity aspect.
I was inspired by "Metamorphosis" by Dana Trippe that used blending modes and butterfly wings. I had masked this image of Zendaya from a photoshoot and the wings of a butterfly and moth. I used the blending modes darken on the moth over the butter and lighten for the background over red.
This was my first time using Illustator in my life. I used mostly rectangles for the body and a circle for the head, using the anchor points and things to get them to the shape I desired. I used a scene from Supergirl as reference and decided to use the red, blue, and yellow from her costume. Since we were working with asymmetrical balance, I decided to leave the middle devoid of color.
